Allison Kristine Hahnel, age 29 of Lynden, died at the Christian Healthcare Center on Tuesday, February 13 at 2:00 pm. Allison was surrounded by her loving family and community.
Allison was born in Seattle, WA, on December 15th 1977 to Brian and Meredith Hahnel. She was born two months premature, and was soon after diagnosed with cerebral palsy. With the support of her family and friends Allison was raised and lived in Whatcom County. Over the course of her life she was a light to all around her. Everyone she met was her next best friend. Allison and her family were active supporters of the Whatcom Infant Stimulation Program, United Cerebral Palsy, the Whatcom Transit Authority, Self-Advocates In Leadership(SAIL), People First, The Ark, the Free Wheelchair Mission, World Vision, and many others. From her early years in Awana through her adult life, Allison was surrounded by Christian community, and she grew a sincere faith and hope for a life in Heaven.
As her 29-year fight with cerebral palsy has now come to an end, Allison is now safely in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her memory will be honored and cherished by her family and friends.
Allison and her family would like to honor the following people and organizations for their ongoing support and care: Allison’s life-long pediatrician Dr. Dale Heisinger, the Christian Healthcare Center family in Lynden, the Shriners Hospital, Children’s Orthopedic Hospital, the University of Washington Hospital, and St. Joseph Hospital.
Allison was deeply loved by her parents Steve & Meredith Moyer, Brian & Elaine Hahnel, her brother, Brandon Hahnel, as well as many other family members.
To continue Allison’s work, contributions can be made to the Free Wheelchair Mission (www.FreeWheelchairMission.org), the Lynden Christian Healthcare Center, and the Lynden North County Christ the King community church (www.ncctk.com).
